How to create a great start into your day in 3 simple steps

· Well-being

We all know the feeling, the alarm goes off and all we feel like doing is disappearing under the blanket instead of getting up and ready for the day. Weather you have to transit to work or work from home, a good morning routine helps you to start the day in a positive manner.

Move your Body

Weather you go for a quick run, do a yoga session or just some stretching exercises helps you to get the blood flowing and really wake up your body. If you are just starting out I wouldn't think of an all sweaty hour long workout, but rather 15 minutes of stretching and light exercises. You really want to feel energized afterwards.

I like to do my favorite short vinyasa yoga session by 'Yoga with Adrien'. Doing the same exercise might sound a bit boring over time, but to be honest it makes it much easier as I already know exactly what I will do without having to think or decide again.

Enjoy a hot Drink in Fresh Air

Now you can get yourself comfy, ideally outside or next to an open window, with a nice cup of hot drink. The hot drink as well as the workout you just did will keep you warm even if it is still a bit cold outside.

My favorite is Assam tea. I already prepare it before starting my morning yoga session, so I don't have to wait later. It might turn out somewhat oversteeped, but I actually like the added bitterness as I drink it with milk. 😊 You can also use large loose leafs which minimizes the effect.

Having your tea or coffee before breakfast has the benefit of making digestion easier as you don't mix liquids and solids.

Breakfast for Champions

What's for breakfast? I know some people like to skip it to save time, but for me breakfast is super important as it gives me the energy I need to be productive throughout the day. My personal favorite in the morning is home made kefir with banana, seasonal fruits, seeds and roasted almonds. As the proverbial saying goes "you are what you eat", giving your body good building blocks helps to keep you fit & healthy.

Now that you already had some movement, tea-time and vitamins you are well equipped for a new day full of achievements & adventures.

As with most good habits it takes some time to make them stick. Try keeping up the routine for 14 consequtive days before making up your mind wether you want to keep it or not.

Bonus Tip: Win an hour in your day

Make use of the fall's daylight saving time switch by moving your alarm by an hour. For your body nothing really changes as it will wake up at the same time but you just gained an extra hour in your day to try your new morning routine. 😊
